What is a multi-function laser?
A multi-functional laser system is designed to be completely customizable and can provide a variety of treatments including tattoo removal, light to moderate skin resurfacing, sun damage and other skin irregularities. The Medley MultiFunction Laser System at The Laser Café is able to treat unwanted tattoos, pigmented lesions and sun damage, active acne, vascular lesions and superficial skin resurfacing for fine lines and wrinkles.
How does the Medley work?
By attaching certain handpieces, the laser console recognizes each one and automatically sets appropriate laser energy settings for that treatment. The Q-Switched Nd:YAG & KTP handpiece will treat unwanted tattoos while the Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Erbium YAG handpieces will treat skin related issues such as pigmentation, sun damage, wrinkles and acne scars.
What should I expect*?
Many patients describe treatments from laser and IPL energy as warm or sharp energy pulses, depending on your treatment and treatment area. General downtime and results are included below for each type of treatment however, specific post-procedure downtime and skin care instructions will be provided to you by your clinician during your appointment.
Tattoo removal: treatment times and number of treatments will vary by patient and there is minimal downtime after each treatment
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL): treatment times and number of treatments will vary by patient and there is no downtime after each treatment
Erbium YAG: treatment times and number of treatments will vary by patient and there is some downtime associated with the treatment – consult with your clincian
